The knee hole space is 21" wide, and the top of the desk overhangs about 3", so the chair needs to have no arms to fit under the desk. The desk comes with a detailed manual which makes it easy to assemble, with each part labeled, and the hardware provided. Assembly takes some time, but it is well worth it. The drawers and pull-out shelves operate smoothly, and the keyboard shelf frees up desktop space. It is recommended.
